Marion County Animal Services

Volunteer program

If you wish you could own pets but can't because of a family member's allergies or your housing requirements, or if you do own pets but want to help homeless pets, a volunteer position with Animal Services is perfect for you.

Volunteers play an important role in the shelter. They facilitate adoptions by getting to know the animals and helping adopters find their perfect match. They teach the high-spirited animals manners, coax the shyer ones and bathe and groom the ones who like getting their paws dirty.

Volunteers spend time playing with the shelter animals and helping find them homes. And that's one of the best feelings in the world, paws down.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and submit a volunteer application form. Mail or fax the form to Marion County Animal Services at 5701 SE 66th St., Ocala, FL 34480 (fax 352-671-8717).

Need volunteer hours? Hours earned at Animal Services count toward scholarship and school requirements.
