Master Gardeners

Marion County currently has over 100 Master Gardener volunteers who dedicate their time and knowledge to helping citizens.

Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers who serve under the direction of the Horticulture Extension Agent. Their mission is to educate residents on how to design, plant and care for their plants and landscapes using Florida-Friendly techniques.

Master Gardeners extend information to the community through various mediums including working in the local plant clinic, taking part in a variety of public speaking events, volunteering with 4-H and other youth projects, hosting local plant expos and sales, and maintaining the on-site University of Florida demonstration gardens.

For more information on the Master Gardener program in Florida, visit the University of Florida Master Gardener website.
