MCFR Fire and EMS Advisory Board


Marion County Commissioners appointed an eight-member Fire and EMS Advisory Board in January, 2009 to serve as a liaison between Marion County Commissioners and citizens with regards to fire rescue and EMS services. The board meets on a quarterly basis at 3 p.m. at MCFR Headquarters in the Information Systems Training Room located at 2631 SE 3rd Street in Ocala. The meetings are held in the Sunshine and open to the public.

Fire and EMS Advisory Board Goals:

 

  • Improve communication and foster cooperation between county commissioners and citizens with regards to fire rescue services

  • Analyze and oversee fire rescue's budget

  • Investigate citizens' concerns

  • Anticipate potential problems and find viable solutions

  • Educate the public on how MCFR spends taxpayer money

  • Offer support to Fire Chief M. Stuart McElhaney and fire rescue personnel

  • Make recommendations to the Marion County Board of County Commissioners
