Marion County: Free end-of-life education program

Who:

Marion County UF/IFAS Extension Service

What:

An interdisciplinary approach to end-of-life education

When:

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ▪ Tuesday, Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 3

Where:

On Top of the World Master the Possibilities Lifelong Learning Center
8415 SW 80th St., Ocala

Why:

If you knew one conversation could make all the difference, would you remain silent?

Learn how to start the conversation about end-of-life preferences and gain peace of mind for you and your loved ones through a free, four-part series led by the Marion County UF/IFAS Extension Service Family and Consumer Sciences instructor, Lynda Spence. Sessions will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 3, in the On Top of the World Master the Possibilities Lifelong Learning Center, 8415 SW 80th St., Ocala.

“The Art of Goodbye: an interdisciplinary approach to end-of-life education” helps participants explore end-of-life concerns through activities, discussion and input from experts. Participants explore personal values and beliefs to increase self-determination of plans and communicating with family, friends and healthcare providers. Breaking the silence helps normalize historically taboo conversations.

This class underscores the county’s strategic goal of increasing public outreach. To register, call 352-861-9751. For more information, contact Marion County UF/IFAS Extension Service at 352-671-8400.
