The Marion County Board of County
Commission is beginning the process of updating the County's
Comprehensive Plan. To achieve this goal, the Commission will be
utilizing the "Community Visioning" process as outlined by
Florida Statutes. This process will include a series of public
workshops to discuss specific topics related to establishing a
long term growth management plan. The purpose of these workshops
is to seek community input on the “Vision†for the future of
Marion County. The establishment of a community vision is
intended to provide direction for changes to Marion County's
Comprehensive Plan. The main objective is to put in place a 10
year, financially feasible, economically and environmentally
sustainable Comprehensive Plan that accurately reflects the
anticipated growth and development of Marion County.

The workshops will be held at the
Marion County Growth Management Building, 2710 East Silver
Springs Boulevard, Ocala, Florida 34470. All meetings will begin
at 6:00 P.M. The August and September dates are tentative. For
