Solid Waste Department
Hazardous Waste Division

The Hazardous Waste Division provides a permanent collection center along with a mobile collection program for household hazardous waste and bio-medical waste. It insures proper packaging and disposal of hazardous waste from the county wide programs and implements a mercury vapor fluorescent program county wide. The division prevents unauthorized waste from being disposed of at Baseline Solid Waste Facility and educates businesses through on-site inspections to improve management and disposal of hazardous waste. The Hazardous Waste Division also investigates complaints and cooperates with governmental agencies to provide hazardous waste compliance assistance. Three times a year the division provides electronic waste recycling events for county residents.

Marion County's Household Hazardous Waste division offers homeowners two ways to dispose of household hazardous waste. The first, a facility located at the Baseline Landfill, is open to homeowners during the regular operating hours of the Landfill.

The second way to dispose of hazardous waste is at the Recycling Centers.   However, there are limitations on the items and amounts that can be disposed of at these centers.
