Litter Control Division



The Marion County Solid Waste Department Litter Division provides for litter control along County maintained roads, responds to litter complaints, and implement litter programs involving communities. Marion County jail inmates, Department of Correction's crews (2 crews), Sheriff's Alternative Sentencing Program, and Community Service Workers are all used for litter control along county roads and complaint clean ups. Community oriented programs like Adopt-A-Road, Keep Marion Beautiful, and Community sponsored clean-up events are benefiting from the litter program.

Litter Crew Trailer
  • We offer several different types of litter programs ranging from our inmate litter program to the new weekend probation program

  • We also offer Adopt-a-Road programs. Presently we have 37 organizations participating in this program, which equals to 74 miles four times a year litter pick up

  • MCBCC also is a supporter of Keep Marion Beautiful

  • All vehicles with unsecured loads that come across the scale will be charged a $5.00 fee per the County Ordinance (Chapter 16).

  • Call Code Enforcement at (352) 671-8900 to report litter complaints.

  • Right of Way: The land which the County has title to, or right of use, for the road and its structures and appurtenances, and for material pits furnished or to be furnished by the County.
