Correspondence

Please send letters for discontinuance of service, notification of address change, billing questions, etc... to our business office, 1219 S. Pine Ave. Ocala, FL 34471. Please do not include correspondence with your payment coupon in the preaddressed envelope. You may also contact us through our website by emailing us.

 

Billing Information

Monthly utility bills are due and payable when rendered. Your bill will indicate the water and / or wastewater base charges and water gallons (in thousands) used. The meter number is referenced on your bill for your information. Accounts that are delinquent will be assessed a late charge. Delinquent accounts will indicate a previous balance on the following month's bill. If you have a previous balance, your bill will show a cut off date. Please contact our office if you feel the previous balance listed is an error. Base charges will continue to be assessed regardless of whether your service is connected or disconnected. A graph showing your consumption over the past twelve months is printed on your bill for your records.

     

Owner Information

As the owner of a property, you will be billed monthly base facility charges, regardless of whether water service is connected or disconnected, until a property is sold or rented out. It is your responsibility, as an owner, to make sure your tenant set up an account in order for the monthly bill to come out of your name.

 

Non-Payment of Services

Previous balances that are not paid prior to the cut off date indicated on your statement will be subject to service being disconnected. A reconnection fee along with the previous balance will have to be paid before service will be restored. Payments made during business hours will most likely have service restored the same day. Requests made after hours will only have service restored up to 10:00PM and will be subject to an after hour reconnection charge. Requests made after 10:00PM will not be restored until the next day. All after hour requests are to be paid by 10:00AM the next business day.

     

DISCONTINUANCE OF SERVICE

Requests to discontinue service must be in writing via email, fax or mail. Allow 2-3 business days for processing. Click here for a disconnection request.  Please confirm that your request has been received.

 

Tampering

All water meters are to be turned on or off only by a representative of Marion County Utilities. A $250.00 tampering fine will be assessed if we discover a meter has been tampered with.


 

SEASONAL TURN OFF

You can request a seasonal turn off to avoid possible water damage or irrigation leaks, while you are away. The fee is $25.00 to turn back on. Please give a 2-3 day advance notice. During the time your service is off, you will continue to be billed your monthly base charge.

 

LEAK'S and SEWER BACKUPS

Contact the Utility if you have a sewer backup. If all your drains are backing up that is an indication that the problem could be on the Utility's side of responsibility. If you have only one drain or a toilet backing up, the problem is most likely on the customer's side.

Water leaks that are located between the residence and the meter are the resident's responsibility to repair. Please monitor your usage for substantial changes that can indicate a leak. Leaks between the meter and the street are the Utility's responsibility. We are available 24/7. Requests could be subject to a service fee.
